OUR GOAL

Developing your full potential as a musician by providing a balanced repertoire, progressive technique, music theory and performance opportunities.

MUSIC INSTRUCTION

Lessons in the studio consist of either individual piano or voice instruction.

The studio is open throughout the year, except for Labor Day, Thanksgiving Week, Winter Break (December 24th - January 6th), Spring Break (April 2nd - 8th) and Memorial Day.

TUITION

The lesson fee is based on a yearly tuition payable in twelve equal monthly installments or four equal quarterly installments (September, December, March and June). During the year, you are guaranteed a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 44 lessons.

The tuition is due in advance on the last lesson of the each month. Either a check or cash is welcome. A late fee of $10.00 will be charged if the tuition has not been received by the 10th of the new month or quarter. For returned checks a $20.00 fee plus any bank charges will be added to your tuition fee.

The fee is for instruction only. The cost of books, materials or other expenses is separate.

CANCELLATION

When a student discontinues lessons with little or no advance notification to the teacher and another student cannot be worked into the scheduled lesson time immediately, it results in a monetary loss to the teacher and a wasted lesson period. Therefore, when a student will be discontinuing lessons the teacher is to be notified by the parent(s) responsible and pay for two weeks of canceled lessons from the date of notification or discontinuance of lessons.

THE LESSON

The time of your lesson has been reserved for you and only you. This means that this time is unavailable to any other student and I have made the commitment to instruct you at that time. Do not schedule sports activities, other lessons, or any other appointments during your scheduled lesson time. If a conflict arises, I will not make the lesson up to you or credit you the amount of the lesson.

MAKE-UP LESSONS

If my absence causes a missed lesson, I will reschedule the lesson in accordance with your and my schedule. If you have to miss a lesson, please notify me 24 hours in advance, in order to re-schedule the lesson for another day. If I do not receive advance notice, I will not be able to make the lesson up to you. One make-up lesson per month will be granted to you, which cannot be carried over into the next month.

PRACTICE

Assignments, practice and participation in studio activities are to have the same priority as homework from school. In order to make the best progress in music, daily practice is strongly recommended.

To help develop self-discipline and good work habits, it is suggested that a regular time for practice be determined and set aside each day. It is the responsibility of the student to read the weekly assignment and to make the effort to meet practice goals. It is the responsibility of the parent(s) to see that home practice and assignments are carried out free of distraction and interruption. Parental recognition, support and encouragement are vital for continued progress and success. Students are expected to practice at least 5 days per week in addition to the lesson. Minimum weekly time commitment should be 100 minutes per week or 20 minutes per day.

MUSIC PERFORMANCES

Recitals are scheduled every four months. A formal recital will take place at the end of November in which all students will be required to attend. A small recital fee will be required for each participating student.

POLICY STATEMENT

These policies are in accordance with the Music Teachers National Association, the California Association of Professional Music Teachers and the Music Teachers Association of California guidelines. The tuition fees take into consideration that I must bear the expense of renting the studio, maintaining a library and purchase other equipment and supplies. Also there is at least as much time spent in planning, study, research, scheduling, phone calls, bookkeeping and other studio related work, as in actual lesson time.

YOUR INVESTMENT

Music education is expensive, but it is a lifetime investment. Studies have shown that students who practice a keyboard instrument or are involved in musical activities for at least 15 minutes a day have scored up to 47% higher on tests than those who donÕt. It is also said that keyboard practice engages all parts of the brain. In addition, music helps to build character and a more well rounded personality. Music is an Òinternational languageÓ that is spoken and understood all over the world, regardless of cast, creed and culture. So remember that you have provided yourself or a loved one with knowledge that will last a lifetime. It is true Ð your investment can go a long way.

I am looking forward to working together with you and sharing this wonderful gift of music. I pledge to do my best to make music study a rich, growing experience for my students.
